Craughwell 1.22 Mullagh 5.07
Craughwell Camogie got their Senior A campaign off to a positive start with a hard fought three point victory over a somewhat understrength Mullagh outfit in the first round of the League last Friday evening. In a game typical of early season fare mistakes were plentiful from both sides early on as players got to grips with getting back on the pitch after a winter of indoor S&C, however, the game turned into a great contest right to the finish where the young Craughwell outfit held on for the much-needed win. It was a particularly significant evening for the four young Craughwell players who made their competitive debut – Chloe Allen, Helen Callaghan, Clodagh O Meara and Jade Whelton who all more than held their own at this level.
Scorers – Leanne Freaney 1.08, Tara Stephens 0.05, Clodagh O Meara 0.03, Andrea Tobin 0.02, Sarah Mc Cartin 0.02, Jade Whelton 0.01, Aisling Connolly 0.01. Craughwell’s next outing is the exciting prospect of welcoming All Ireland Club Champions Sarsfields in Round 2 over Easter weekend.
